If you’re a blonde like me, you’ve had that moment, usually around February, when you look in the mirror and think “Ugh! When did my hair get so dark?!” You immediately schedule your hair appointment to go bright summer blonde. I do it every year.
But there are a few things to remember about safely going back to your super blonde locks:
Take it slow. Don’t jeopardize the integrity of your hair by trying to get there in one sitting.
Make sure to schedule your follow up appointments. 6-7 weeks between services is about average. And you’ll be back to your old self before the big vacation!
Buy good products! Nothing is more deflating than having beautiful color on dry, damaged hair. Split ends come with the territory when blonding. But there are products designed to minimize that damage as well as mask it entirely. My faves are Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, a leave-in conditioner, and Damage Remedy Split End Repair. They are Miracle Workers for my beaten up blonde ends!
Going slow will help minimize damage and maintain length. So now’s the best time to start. Since you should plan on at least 2 visits 6-7 weeks apart, that gets your blonde back and at it brightest and healthiest by early spring. (Just about the same time every year we have that conversation with ourselves about how dark and drab we feel with our winter hair…)
